Bihar Police Headquarters, Patna has released an official recruitment notification dated May 7, 2026 for 15,821 vacancies in the Special Auxiliary Police (SAP), Bihar. This recruitment is exclusively for Ex-Army (Indian Army) and Ex-Paramilitary / CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) retired soldiers who are permanent residents of Bihar. Selection will be done through a Walk-in Rally / Interview — there is no written test, no physical test. The rally is scheduled from June 1 to June 6, 2026 at Regional Office AWPO, Danapur Cantt.

Note 1: There are a total of 15,821 posts. Out of these posts 316 posts are set aside for the grandchildren of freedom fighters. This means the grandchildren of freedom fighters like naati, natin, pota or poti have a place. When we select candidates, from any group they will be counted in their group whether that group is reserved or not reserved for them.

Note 2: As per the General Administration Departments resolution on 22nd January 2021 there is a 4 percent reservation for people with benchmark disabilities, PwBD, across disability categories. This reservation is for 633 posts. The categories are specified in the Rights of Persons, with Disabilities Act 2016.

Bihar Police SAP Vacancy 2026 Walk-in Rally Schedule — District & Division-wise Dates

You need to go to the rally on the day that is set for your district. If you go on the day the rally people will not accept you. The rally is open from 09:30 AM to 04:00 PM. You have to be there, during this time. The rally starts at 09:30 AM. It will end at 04:00 PM so make sure you are there when the rally is happening.

Important:These are the district- rally dates for the initial schedule. The AWPO Regional Office, Danapur Cantt will also have Walk-in Interviews every week of each month throughout the financial year 2026-27. So if you miss the rally dates in June you can go to the AWPO Regional Office, Danapur Cantt in the months, after that. The AWPO Regional Office, Danapur Cantt will have these Walk-in Interviews every month.

Who is allowed to apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026?

People who used to be in the Indian Army that is the Ex-Army they can apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026. This includes everyone from a Jawan to a JCO.

People who used to be in the Central Armed Police Forces also known as CAPF or Ex-Paramilitary can also apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026. This includes people, from the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB and so on.

You must live in Bihar State to apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026.

Who cannot apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026?

If you are an ex-serviceman and you used to work in SAP or ERSS or Homeguard in Bihar and your contract ended for some reason then you cannot apply for Bihar Police SAP 2026 again.

Age Limit (as on June 1, 2026)

Medical Fitness when you retire is very important.

• The medical category should be S1, H3, A3, P3 or E3. We prefer people who’re in the SHAPE-1 category.
• If you are completely fit when you retire we will consider you for this.
• You do not have to do any tests but you must have a Medical Examination.
• The Army or ECHS or the Police will send a team of doctors to do your exam.

Your Conduct Record is also very important.

• Your conduct when you retire must be very good or excellent.
• If your conduct is not good you cannot apply.
• There are some things you need to know to be eligible.
• You must know how to use modern and automated weapons.
• If you used to be in the Army you must have an ECHS membership.
• You must not have any cases, against you or any disciplinary actions pending.
• The maximum age to apply is 56 years no matter what.

Salary & Benefits — Bihar Police SAP Bharti 2026

Additional Benefits: Uniform allowance will be given every year. This allowance is similar to what Bihar Police jawans get. It also covers washing costs.

The stipend will have EPF deduction as per the rules.

When it comes to travel a travel allowance or halt allowance will be provided. This allowance is similar, to what serving Bihar Police jawans receive.

This is a contract-based appointment that will last for 1 year and it can be extended. The contract-based appointment is not a government job. There will be no pension, from this contract-based appointment. If a SAP jawan is killed while performing -terrorist or extremist duty the family of the SAP jawan will receive an Ex-Gratia payment of ₹10,00,000, which is Ten Lakh Rupees. The family of the SAP jawan will not get a job in this situation.

• ECHS Card — mandatory for Ex-Army applicants

Critical: You need to get your registration verified at the Regional Office AWPO in Danapur Cantt. This is something you have to do before the rally. If you do not verify your registration you will not be able to get an appointment for SAP. So you have to do this before the day of the rally. Verify your registration it is very important. If you are selected as a jawan you will work under the District Superintendent of Police in the district where you are posted.

The District Superintendent of Police is in charge of the district where you will be working.

You can be transferred from one district to another.

You can also be sent to work with departments of the Bihar Government such as the Transport department, the Production department or the Mining department.

You will not be posted in your home district.

You will get a maximum of 40 days leave per year because you are working on a contract basis.

If you have experience in disaster management or if you know how to detect and dispose of bombs or if you are a driver or if you are a good swimmer or if you are good at mountaineering or if you can operate a motorboat you will be given priority when we are selecting candidates.

As a Special Armed Police jawan you do not have the right to form a group or join a group or get money from any group.

Your contract can be ended with one months notice if your work is not good.

Your contract can be ended immediately if you do not follow the rules or if you do something or if you are not physically fit or if you have a disease that cannot be cured.

You must not use your position as a jawan for your gain or for the gain of any company during the time you are working on contract.

How to Apply Bihar Police SAP Bharti 2026

• First you need to check your registration at the Regional Office AWPO in Danapur Cantt. This is a must-do before going to the rally. You can call them at 06115-222251 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

• Get the Application Form from the Regional Office AWPO in Danapur Cantt.. If something comes up you can also fill it out at the rally venue.

• Fill out the application form. Attach photocopies of all needed documents. Discharge Book, PPO ID proof, bank passbook, residential certificate, caste certificate, AWPO registration number and 4 passport-size photos.

• Submit the filled form at the Regional Office AWPO in Danapur Cantt before the rally. They will check your documents. Send you to the rally on your assigned date.

• Go to the Walk-in Rally on the date assigned to your district (June 1-6 2026) at AWPO Danapur Cantt between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM with all your documents.

• You will go through Document Verification and Medical Examination at the rally venue.

• The final selection list will be. Published by AWPO after all rallies are done.

If you can’t make it to the June rally don’t worry. There will be Walk-in Interviews every week of every month in 2026-27, at AWPO Danapur Cantt. You can attend in July, August or any other month.
