NEP 2020 – 3 Subject Combination Options (Odisha UG 2026)

The Odisha UG 2026 is going to follow the NEP 2020. When students fill out the Common Application Form they have to pick the subjects they want to study. A lot of people do not make it clear what options are available. This is what Odisha +3 students are searching for the this year. The Odisha UG 2026 and the subjects students can choose are really important. Students need to understand the Odisha UG 2026 subject combination options.

Option 1 – Single Major + Two Minor
Choose 1 Major subject (deep focus area) + 2 Minor subjects (broader exposure). Best for students with a clear career direction — e.g., Major in Economics + Minor in Maths + Minor in Political Science.
Option 2 – Double Major
Choose 2 Major subjects (dual specialisation). Best for students who want expertise in two areas — e.g., Major in History + Major in Sociology. Higher academic workload but dual degree value.
Option 3 – Three Minor Subjects
Choose 3 Minor subjects (breadth over depth). Best for students who want to explore multiple areas before specialising — e.g., Minor in English + Minor in Geography + Minor in Computer Science.

You need to pick your subjects carefully when you fill out the CAF. Changing the subjects after you submit the form might not be possible. So it is an idea to talk to your teacher at school or college or a career counsellor before you make a decision. The subjects you choose will decide what you study for the 4 years when you are following the NEP 2020 framework.

Slide / Freeze / Float – Explained Simply

After each list of selected students they must choose one of three options.

  • SLIDE: You got College B. You want College A, which is higher on your list.

By choosing SLIDE you stay in College B for now. Ask for College A in the next round.

If College A has a spot for you in the round you move to College A.

If not you stay in College B.

  • FREEZE: You are happy with College B. Do not want to change.

By choosing FREEZE you confirm you want to join College B.

You will not be considered for College A or any other college, in the round.

This is your choice.

  • FLOAT: You want to try for a college.

By choosing FLOAT you can still get any college on your list in the round. Even if it is lower than College B.

This is a bit risky but useful if your top choices were not selected.

If you do not choose SLIDE, FREEZE or FLOAT on time your college choice will be cancelled.

Always check samsodisha.gov.in. Make your choice within the given time. The deadline will be different each time a new list is published.
