Key rules are as follows:

Negative marking is something we should be careful about. For each answer we will lose one third of a mark.

PwBD Candidates get some time. They have one hundred and twenty minutes to complete the test. This is thirty minutes more than the rest of the candidates.

The test is on the computer. We will take the test online.

We can take the test in two languages. The test is available in Hindi and English.

They also have a rule for normalization. This is because the test is held at times.

The first CBT is a test to see who can move on. The final merit list, for CBT 2 is based on the normalized scores. The marks we get in CBT 1 do not directly affect our chances of being selected. CBT 1 is a screening test. The final selection is based on CBT 2.

Aadhaar Biometric Verification – Mandatory at Exam Centre

RRB has made Aadhaar-based biometric verification mandatory at all exam centres for RRB NTPC 2026. Before you enter the exam hall, biometric verification will be conducted. To ensure smooth entry:

  • Carry your original Aadhaar card or a printed e-Verified Aadhaar
  • Ensure your Aadhaar is unlocked in the UIDAI system before exam day
  • Candidates with locked biometrics on Aadhaar will face difficulty at entry — unlock it immediately through the UIDAI app or website

Do not wait until the day before the exam to check your Aadhaar biometric status. Do it now at uidai.gov.in.

What Happens After CBT 1 – Complete Selection Process

Here is the full selection process for RRB NTPC Undergraduate posts 2026:

  • Stage 1: CBT 1

Screening exam with 100 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. You just need to qualify.

  • Stage 2: CBT 2

This is the exam for candidates who get shortlisted. It is more difficult. Focused on specific subjects.

  • Stage 3: CBAT / TST

You will take a Computer-Based Aptitude Test for some posts like Commercial cum Ticket Clerk.. You will take a Typing Skill Test for posts that require typing.

  • Stage 4: Document Verification

Your original documents will be checked against the information you provided in your application.

  • Stage 5: Medical Examination

Important: CBT 1 is for screening. Only candidates who score above the cutoff, in CBT 1 and have good normalized scores move to CBT 2. Your final ranking is based on how you perform in CBT 2.
